About Us

Rupnow Family Hamps began 34 years ago with 2 registered hamp ewes. As our 4 children grew and developed an interest in showing club lambs, we made our first wether sire purchase: A Cabaniss yearling ram, and we have never looked back. At that time we changed our name to RUPNOW HAMP SHOW LAMBS. It was the beginning of a fun family activity that is still a big part of our lives. Since then we have used rams from Annuschat, McGolden, Ott, MacLennan, and most recently we purchased a powerful ram from Powercat Club Lambs that was raised by Langemeier out of 4D Large and a Medicine Man ewe. Our ewe base reflects the quality of these rams.

Our family enjoyed much success throughout the years at county, regional and state shows. Heidi (our daughter who is now part of METRO HAMPS) had the honor of winning the Wisconsin State Fair with a lamb that was bred and raised by us.
Since the Rupnow children finished their show careers, we have dedicated our time to assisting other youth get started in the wether sheep industry. We are proud of the youth who became a very real part of our family and look forward to others we haven't met yet.

Of course our pride and joy is the 5 grand kids.  Will and Justin Rupnow (Damage Incorporated) from Nemaha, Iowa, and Ty Thorson (also part owner of Metro Hamps) from Columbus, Wisconsin are our current showmen in the family.  Time will tell if our twin granddaughters, Reagan and Kendal Johnston, from Pennsylvania will find their way to the shavings.  Each lambing season is like waking up on Christmas morning and win or lose, the show season is like a never ending party.

We are breeders because we love the sheep and the families that we meet along the way. We are looking forward to retiring soon and making RUPNOW HAMP SHOW LAMBS and PROFILES LIVESTOCK SHOW SUPPLY & CUSTOM EMBROIDERY ( our full time venture.

We welcome inquiries and hope we can be of service to you and your family in the future.

Metro Hamps started in 2002 in a suburb of Atlanta, GA with a ewe lamb purchased at the Midwest Stud Ram sale from Heidi’s brother, Eric and a handful of ewes from Heidi’s parernts, Rupnow Family Hamps Show Lambs. We also purchased a ram lamb from Eric that went back to an Ott (Pursuit) ram and a Cabaniss ewe.

Though it was tough to leave the warm winters and all our friends in Georgia, the birth of our son, Ty, drove us back to Wisconsin to be closer to family. We moved back to Wisconsin in February of 2007 and the purchase of a cornfield in 2008 finally became home in the summer of 2010.

We continued to build our flock using a home raised ram and keeper ram from Rupnow Hamps out of the MacLennon Ram. This year we went together with Heidi’s parents and purchased Raji, the 4D large son from Powercat Club Lambs.  Most of the ewes in the flock go back to three of the original ewes, known to us as Daisy, Maude, and Psyco, with very few ewe lambs leaving the place as we continue to  build the flock from within to create a uniform ewe base that is structurally correct, powerful and productive.
2011 was one of the most fun and rewarding summers we have had, watching out 5 year old get out there and show with the best of them.  We look forward to his many years of success and friendships he will make through the club lamb industry.
We share the vision of Rupnow Hamps to produce complete sheep that can compete at all levels and look forward to the opportunity to work with you..

Please feel free to call or stop by any time to chat about sheep.
